When my wife gets irritated, annoyed, angry — I feel this reflex to soothe, to fix.
Not because I truly want to calm her.
It’s because I feel anxiety inside myself when I see her expressing emotion.
It sometimes turns to anger, especially if I can’t soothe her.
one day, I realized where it came from.
It came from my mom needing to be soothed by me.
this awareness allowed me to stop doing that. my anxiety went away and I could just simply be there.
