You ever wish that life wasn’t so complicated? You ever get tired of making decisions? You ever find yourself looking for an adult to give you guidance, until you remember that YOU are the adult? This is my life.
Quite often, I find myself craving a level of simplicity that I’ve never known. I wish that life was simple. I wish that life was black and white, but life forces me to reckon with every shade of gray. There’s no “right answer”—only endless possibilities, unanswered questions, and an inability to satisfy everyone.
Every day, we have to make nuanced decisions and snap judgements about how we’re going to use our time, energy, and resources. And sometimes, we have to choose between self-preservation and showing up for the people we love. We have to choose between vulnerability and self-protection. We have to choose between taking care of ourselves and taking care of the people we love.
I don’t know if these decisions ever get easier. I don’t know if life ever starts to make more sense. What I do know is that we owe it to ourselves to keep learning ourselves, our needs, and our boundaries so that we can better understand how to show up for ourselves, the people we love, and the world.
I’ve had the privilege of writing in public for over a decade, and I enjoy helping other writers to reach their goals and solve problems. I’d love to work with you–book a clarity call with me here.
Michell, I'm with you on this. Recently, I've been feeling so overwhelmed. The more I try to chase simplicity, the more I'm being drawn towards chaos. Sometimes, it's so hard to not focus on the things we can't control. I'm trying to remind myself that it's okay to allow myself to feel every emotion in order to let it go in this season of life. Everything will be okay. I can attest that you are not alone💛
I don’t know how your blog found me. But I am you and you are me
